The domestic and drinking water supply shall
be distributed through a piping system entirely independent of any
pipe system conveying another water supply.
The water service pipe of any building shall
be installed in accordance with the ordinances of the Village of Massapequa
Park for water supply.
A.
All plumbing fixtures shall be provided with a supply
of water sufficient for flushing to keep them in a sanitary condition.
They may be flushed through an approved flushometer valve and shall
be adjusted to prevent the waste of water. Where flushometer valves
are used, they shall be supplied with water under sufficient pressure
and volume at all times to properly flush the water closets. Where
this is impossible to accomplish with the supply direct from the street
water main, flushometer valves are prohibited unless they are supplied
from a house tank of approved capacity.[1]
B.
No plumbing fixture or device shall be supplied directly
from a water supply system through a flushometer or other valve unless
such valve is installed in a manner such as to prevent any possibility
of polluting the water supply.
C.
No plumbing fixture, device or construction shall
be installed which will provide an interconnection between a distribution
system of water for drinking and domestic purposes and a drainage
soil or waste pipe so as to permit or make possible the backflow of
sewage or waste into the water supply system.[2]
Water supply control shall be installed
in accordance with the ordinance of the Village of Massapequa Park
for water supply.
All water supply pipes for a plumbing system
shall be of Type K or L copper tubing. Water supply pipes and fittings
of materials or combinations of materials of an equal or better class,
from a corrosive or health viewpoint, may be used after approval in
writing by the Building Inspector. No pipe or fittings that have been
used for other purposes shall be used for distributing water.
All concealed water pipes, storage tanks, flushing
cisterns and all exposed pipes or tanks subject to freezing temperatures
shall be efficiently protected.
Wherever a check valve is installed on the cold-water
supply pipe between the street main and the hot-water tank, there
shall be installed on the hot-water distributing system a suitable
relief valve.
