It shall be the duty of the City Clerk, in addition to equipping the
polling places, to cause a voting machine or machines, prepared as provided
by the Election Law of the State of New York, to be delivered, subject to
supervision of the Board of Elections, at each of the respective polling places
in which they are to be used, at least one hour before the time set for the
opening of the polls. After the machines have been delivered, they shall be
set up in the proper manner for use at the election, and it shall be the duty
of the Chief of Police to provide ample protection against molestation and
injury to the machines. Whenever the personnel of the Police Department is
insufficient to perform such duty, the Chief of Police shall have the power
and authority to employ such persons as he deems necessary to protect the
voting machines as required by § 3-402 of the Election Law of the
State of New York, and to compensate such persons as shall be determined by
the Board of Estimate and Apportionment.

The salary of the Inspectors of Election appointed to serve at special
and general elections and on primary and registration days shall be determined
by the Board of Estimate and Apportionment.

The rental of places, exclusive of City-owned buildings, used for primary
election, registration and general elections, shall be determined by the Board
of Estimate and Apportionment.
This article shall supersede the ordinance entitled "An Ordinance Establishing
the Salary of Election Inspectors and the Rental of Polling Places," adopted
September 8, 1947, and amended October 25, 1948.
