The existing Police Department is hereby recognized and reestablished and reorganized in and for the Borough of Greencastle. The Chief of Police shall be the chief executive of the Police Department. The Chief shall, under the direction of the Mayor, be in charge of the police force and have supervision over its members, in the exercise of their powers, duties and authority.
Subordinate to the Chief of Police, in the Police Department, is the position of patrolperson.
The persons to serve in the positions of Chief of Police and patrolperson, employment of part-time police persons as additional police personnel, and the compensation of each, shall be as determined by the Borough Council from time to time.
Nothing herein contained shall affect the authority of the Mayor to appoint special police persons.
