The salary and service of each police officer
with respect to longevity pay shall be fixed and determined by his/her
base salary and service as of January 1, 1974, and on the anniversary
of the police officer's appointment date hereafter.
A.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than three years but less than six years of continuous
employment in the Police Department shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 1% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
B.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than six years but less than nine years of continuous
employment in the Police Department shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 2% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
C.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than nine years but less than 12 years of continuous
employment in the Police Department shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 3% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
D.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than 12 years but less than 15 years of continuous
employment in the Police Department shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 4% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
E.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than 15 years but less than 18 years of continuous
employment in the Police Department shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 5% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
F.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than 18 years but less than 21 years of continuous
employment in the Police Department shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 6% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
G.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than 21 years but less than 24 years of continuous
employment in the Police Department shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 7% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
H.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than 24 years but less than 27 years of continuous
employment in the Police Department shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 8% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
I.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than 27 years but less than 30 years of continuous
employment in the Police Department shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 9% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
J.
Each police officer who on the determined date shall
have completed more than 30 years of continuous employment in the
Police Department shall be entitled to longevity pay of 10% of his/her
base salary as of the determining date.
This article shall be retroactive to January
1, 1974.

The salary and service of each classified employee
with respect to longevity pay shall be fixed and determined by his/her
salary and service on the anniversary of the classified employee's
permanent appointment date.
A.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have completed more than three years but less than six years
of continuous employment in a full-time capacity shall be entitled
to longevity pay of 1% of his/her base salary as of the determining
date.
B.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have completed more than six years but less than nine years
of continuous employment in a full-time capacity shall be entitled
to longevity pay of 2% of his/her base salary as of the determining
date.
C.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have completed more than nine years but less than 12 years of
continuous employment in a full-time capacity shall be entitled to
longevity pay of 3% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
D.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have more than 12 years but less than 15 years of continuous
employment in a full-time capacity shall be entitled to longevity
pay of 4% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
E.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have more than 15 years but less than 18 years of continuous
service in a full-time capacity shall be entitled to longevity pay
of 5% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
F.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have more than 18 years but less than 21 years of continuous
service in a full-time capacity shall be entitled to longevity pay
of 6% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
G.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have more than 21 years but less than 24 years of continuous
service in a full-time capacity shall be entitled to longevity pay
of 7% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
H.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have completed more than 24 years but less than 27 years of
continuous employment in a full-time capacity shall be entitled to
longevity pay of 8% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
I.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have completed more than 27 years but less than 30 years of
continuous employment in a full-time capacity shall be entitled to
longevity pay of 9% of his/her base salary as of the determining date.
J.
Each classified employee who on the determined date
shall have completed more than 30 years of continuous employment in
a full-time capacity shall be entitled to longevity pay of 10% of
his/her base salary as of the determining date.
Additional compensation of any nature, including
overtime, will not be considered in computing longevity payments.
A.
In order to compute the periods for said longevity
payment, credit will be given for all time served with the Borough
of North Arlington, which time must be consecutive and uninterrupted.
Any interruption of service due to a cause beyond the control of the
classified employee, such as military service, injury in the line
of duty or illness, shall be considered as service for the purpose
of determining the compensation of said longevity periods.
B.
Leaves of absences granted at the request of any classified
employee will not be considered in determining length of service.
This article shall be retroactive to January
1, 1974, and the longevity pay is to be operative and take effect
January 1, 1974.
