[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Health of the Borough of North Arlington 4-6-1983 by Ord. No. 1-83 (Ch. 229 of the 1984 Code); amended in its entirety 11-5-2003 by Ord. No. 2003-03. Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]
No person shall engage in or carry on any business, trade or calling in the Borough of North Arlington, nor aid or assist, as employee, Clerk or otherwise, in carrying on such business or in using any stand, store, or other place or thing, for which a license is required by the terms of this chapter, unless a license as herein provided for shall have been first obtained therefor.
Application for license shall be made to the health officer of the Borough of North Arlington, New Jersey, and no license shall be granted until the payment for the same shall have been made. Every license shall specify by name the person, for or corporation to which it is granted and the location at which such business, trade, profession or calling is to be carried on. The certificate of license shall be conspicuously displayed on the premises where the business is conducted.
All license fees shall be due and payable to the Health Officer at the Health Center in the Borough of North Arlington, New Jersey, on the first day of July in each year, and all such licenses shall expire on the 30th day of June following such payment.

The licenses fees, to be paid annually as above provided to the Health Department, Borough of North Arlington, for conducting any business, trade, profession or occupation at the place designated in the license certificate issued therefore, shall be designated in this chapter or any amendments or supplements thereto. The following health license fees shall be paid for conducting the following business:

No person or persons shall be allowed to transact any business under any license granted under this chapter except the business for which said license was specially granted.
No license certificate shall be issued to any person who has not complied with the laws of the state of New Jersey or the ordinances of the Borough of North Arlington and the Board of Health providing regulations respecting the safety of the persons who may have occasion to use the premises, place or thing licensed, and in case any person licensed fails to comply with such laws and ordinances after due notice and opportunity to be heard, the Board of health may revoke such license. No license provided for by this chapter shall be transferred from one person to another person, and no license shall cover any other place of business than that for which it was issued.
This chapter shall not apply to any of those activities controlled by other governmental agencies.
A.ย 
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, forfeit and pay a fine of not exceeding $500 or be imprisoned for a period not exceeding six months, or both, in the discretion of the court.
B.ย 
Each day that a person, firm or corporation shall be in violation of this chapter shall be determined a separate offense.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith be and the same are hereby repealed, and this chapter shall take effect immediately upon passage and publication according to law.
