The office of Assessor shall be abolished and a Board of three Assessors established pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:17 to 87-20 of the title "Municipalities and Counties" of the Revised Statutes.

After this chapter becomes effective, the Mayor shall, with the Borough Council's consent and advice, appoint a Board of Assessors of Taxes consisting of three members. One of the members shall be designated by the Mayor as Secretary. The Board shall perform all the duties imposed by law upon Assessors in boroughs, and all assessments made by it shall be concurred by a majority of its members. The assessment list and duplicate shall be verified by at least two members of the Board.
