There is hereby established the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee of the Borough of Old Tappan, hereinafter referred to as the "Committee."
The Committee shall consist of 15 members appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Council. Members shall be appointed for a term of two years except that the terms of seven of the initially appointed members shall expire on December 31, 1996, and the terms of the remaining eight initially appointed members shall expire on December 31, 1997.
The Committee shall organize annually and from its members shall elect a Chairperson who shall preside over all meetings.
No member of the Committee shall receive compensation for his or her service.
The purpose of the Committee shall be to investigate, report on, and make recommendations to the Mayor and Council concerning problems and matters of general concern to senior citizens who reside in the borough.
