GENERAL REFERENCES
Licensing — See Ch. 158.
The following words, for the purposes of this chapter, shall have the
following meanings:
Any building or structure used or intended to be used as a temporary
dwelling for tourist occupancy, not being intended for permanent or continuous
dwelling.
Any site or tract of land occupied or used by one or more trailers
or tourist cabins, including any building or enclosure used or intended for
use as part of, or in connection with, such tourist camp.
Any vehicle used or intended for conveyance upon the public street
or highways and constructed to permit occupancy of the vehicle as a dwelling
or sleeping place for one or more persons.
It shall be unlawful for any person to establish, maintain or operate
within the limits of the borough any tourist camp or any location or plot
of ground for the use of transients or nonresidents by day, week, month or
season, whether charge is or is not made, unless a permit therefor is first
obtained from the Mayor and Borough Council.
Each applicant for a permit shall pay a fee of $500 annually. The permit
shall be effective from the date of issuance until December 31 following and
shall be renewed annually thereafter.
Before a permit shall be issued the applicant shall furnish to the borough
a surety bond in the amount of $10,000 which shall be conditioned for the
payment of any money the borough may expend for education, relief, maintenance,
food, clothing, shelter, medications, medical care or hospitalization of the
occupants of any trailer located on leased premises.
Every tourist camp shall be laid out and arranged to provide not less
than 30 feet by 40 feet in area for each trailer or tourist cabin.
It shall be unlawful to park, keep house or maintain any trailer in
or upon any street or upon any site, place or location in the borough unless
in a licensed tourist camp, except that parking for a brief time may be permitted
and that the provisions of this chapter shall not effect nor prohibit the
keeping or storage of any trailer on the home premises of any owner, provided
that the trailer is not used for permanent living or sleeping quarters.
Any person who shall establish, use, operate or maintain a tourist camp, trailer or cabin without having complied with the provisions of this chapter or who shall violate the same shall be subject to the penalty set forth in Article III, General Penalty, of Chapter 1, General Provisions, of the Code of the Borough of Old Tappan.
