A penalty of $35 shall be charged to the payer of any cheek paid to
the Borough of Paulsboro, or any department or division thereof, which is
returned for insufficient funds.
The penalty set forth at § 59C-1 shall be payable immediately upon notification by the Borough that the check was returned for insufficient funds. If not paid within seven calendar days of such notice, the penalty will be added as a property tax lien or, when appropriate, water and sewer tax lien against the property of the issuer of the check that was returned.
Any future payments on an account for which a check or other written
instrument has been returned for insufficient funds or by any person or entity
which has previously tendered an instrument which has been returned for insufficient
funds may be required to be tendered by money order, certified check or cashier's
check.
