The title to ownership of all apparatus, equipment, hose and other property purchased by the city shall be vested in the City of Somers Point.
Any leased equipment will be used by the city under the terms of the lease agreement.

A. 
The Department shall be equipped with such apparatus and other equipment as may be required from time to time to maintain its efficiency and properly protect life and property from fire.
B. 
The Council, by and through the designated Council representative, shall make quarterly inspections, in the company of the Chief, of all apparatus, equipment, property and records of the City Fire Department, and thereupon shall take any corrective action necessary and shall designate a day in each year for public demonstration of apparatus, equipment, property and firefighting skills.
Recommendations for apparatus and equipment needed shall be made by the Chief to the designated Council representative. Purchases of apparatus and equipment shall be authorized by the Council at such times and manner as it shall determine.
A. 
No person shall use any fire apparatus, equipment or property for any private purpose, nor shall any person willfully and without authority take away or conceal any article which belongs to or is used in any way by the City Fire Department.
B. 
No person shall enter any place where fire apparatus is housed nor handle any equipment, property or apparatus belonging to the City Fire Department unless accompanied by or having the special permission of an officer or authorized member of the City Fire Department.
The Chief of the City Fire Department shall be authorized to extend aid to neighboring communities upon request for fire protection or to participate in a mutual aid system in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey. All mutual aid agreements shall be presented to the designated Council representative for approval by the Council and legal review.
No apparatus shall be removed from or permitted to leave the City of Somers Point without the consent of the designated Council representative, except in response to a call for aid at a fire in a neighboring community. No apparatus is to leave the city without the consent of the Chief or the next-highest-ranking officer available. The officer in charge of the Department shall have power to assign equipment for response to calls for outside aid in accordance with mutual aid system procedures and in other cases only when the absence of such equipment in his judgment will not jeopardize fire protection in the City of Somers Point.
