A.
Unless another penalty is required to be imposed by any section of N.J.S.A. 4:19-1 et seq., any person adjudged guilty of a violation of the provisions of Article I of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof in the Municipal Court of Somers Point, be subject to a fine of not more than $1,000, or community service for a period not exceeding 90 days, or any combination of the foregoing. The Municipal Court of the City of Somers Point shall have jurisdiction over such offenses.
B.
In the event, however, that the violation arises out of the failure to obtain a license and the dog subject to the license requirement is not an attack dog, guard dog, or a dog declared by the Municipal Court to be vicious or potentially dangerous, and the alleged violator obtains the required license after receiving a court summons, but prior to the initially scheduled hearing date, the penalty shall be the minimum fine of $50, which may be payable without the necessity of making a court appearance.
