Subject to the provisions of this chapter, the creation of any unreasonably loud, disturbing and unnecessary noise in the township is prohibited. Noise of such character, intensity and duration as to be detrimental to the life or health of any individual is prohibited.
A.
The following acts, among others, are declared to be loud, disturbing and unnecessary noises in violation of this chapter, but said enumeration shall not be deemed to be exclusive:
(1)
The use of any automobile, motorcycle, streetcar or vehicle so out of repair or so loaded or by racing the motor thereof in such manner as to create loud and unnecessary grating, grinding, rattling or other noise.
(2)
The making of unnecessary noise in the handling of ash, trash and garbage cans, either in loading or unloading, and whether full or empty.
(3)
The discharge into the open air of the exhaust of any motor vehicle, motorcycle or motorboat engine, except through a muffler or other device which will effectively prevent loud or explosive noises therefrom.
(4)
The use of any mechanical device operated by compressed air unless the noise created thereby is effectively muffled and reduced.
(5)
The creation of any excessive noise on any street adjacent to any school, institution of learning or court, while the same is in session, which unreasonably interferes with the workings of such institution.
(6)
The creation of a loud and excessive noise in connection with the loading or unloading of any vehicle or the opening and destruction of bales, boxes, crates and containers.
(7)
The sounding of any bell or gong attached to any building or premises which disturbs the quiet or repose of persons in the vicinity thereof.
(8)
The shouting and crying of peddlers, hawkers and vendors which disturbs the peace and quiet of the neighborhood.
B.
In addition to the acts prohibited above, the Township has included certain noises under the Township's Nuisance Ordinance. See Chapter 90, Nuisances.
