The New Jersey Water Company, a regulated public utility corporation
of the State of New Jersey, is hereby authorized and empowered to lay and
maintain water pipes and water mains for the purpose of supplying water for
residential, commercial and industrial use to the residents of, and for public
fire protection in and along, under and through the public roads, streets,
alleys, highways and public ways within the territorial limits of, the Township
of Washington, County of Warren, State of New Jersey.
All water pipes and water mains shall be laid at least three feet below
the surface of the public roads, streets, alleys, highways and public ways
in each case, and said water pipes and water mains shall be laid so that they
shall not in any way unnecessarily obstruct or interfere with the public travel
or damage public or private property. Said roads, streets, alleys, highways
and public ways shall, after the laying of said water pipes and water mains,
be restored to as good order and condition as they were in when the same were
excavated for the purposes aforesaid.
The New Jersey Water Company is further authorized and empowered to
erect, maintain and repair water or fire plugs, water valves and water meters
and provide openings and means of access thereto and to said water pipes and
water mains and/or along all public streets, avenues, roads, highways and
places.
All openings, cuts or excavations of any kind in any road, street, alley, highway, sidewalk or any other public way under the jurisdiction of the Township of Washington shall be subject to the provisions of Chapter
106, Street Excavations, of the Code of the Township of Washington.
