The purpose of the Committee is to review and
recommend changes regarding the handling of solid waste; to review
and recommend rules and regulations related to Township ordinances;
to conduct a continuous education program; to encourage stricter Code
enforcement; to introduce new forms of technology; to develop programs
within the Township government and the community which will aid in
the sustained reduction of litter; to periodically measure litter
accumulation in Washington Township; to organize periodic litter cleanup
events; and to make an annual report to the Township Committee showing
the activities of the Committee for the current year.
The Committee shall consist of three to seven
members, who shall serve for one-year terms and who shall be appointed
by the Township Committee, with one Township Committee representative
appointed as a liaison. The members of the Committee shall regularly
attend meetings and public hearings of the Committee and shall serve
without compensation except for reimbursement for authorized expenses
attendant to the performance of their duties.
The Committee shall establish all standing subcommittees.
Various subcommittees may be established each
year, including but not limited to Education, Finance and Program.
Responsibilities will be determined at the time of appointment and
establishment of the subcommittee.
Bylaws, rules and regulations may be established
and/or amended by the Committee during regular or special meetings
and may be submitted by any member of the Committee.
