There shall be a suitable and competent person appointed as Librarian for the Woodbury Public Library. Appointment shall be made annually at the first session of the City Council in January.
The duties of the Librarian shall especially be to take charge of the library and reading room during all the hours, day and evening, that the Trustees of the library shall order and direct in their rules and regulations, which shall include:
Keeping the room, cases, books, magazines, periodicals, newspapers, etc., in good order and to the entire satisfaction of the Trustees.
Carrying out and enforcing all the rules and regulations that the Trustees have now made or such as shall be made by such Trustees for the proper government thereof.
Delivering books, periodicals, pamphlets, magazines, etc., to all such persons as shall be by the rules and regulations so entitled and rendering such service and assistance and giving such suitable information as may be necessary in the selection of reading matter.
The preparation of a catalog and proper numbering or lettering of all books, periodicals, magazines, reference books, etc., according to some approved modem system to the satisfaction of the Trustees.
Keeping a correct record of all books, periodicals, etc., taken out and returned under such a system of bookkeeping as shall from time to time be designated by the Board of Trustees, and when such books shall be returned to the room, they shall be placed in their proper receptacles in their cases.
Making and keeping a correct record of all books and reading matter in circulation outside of the reading room.
Keeping a list of all such reading matter not upon the files and such as shall be called for from time to time by applicants and presenting such list monthly to the Board of Trustees.
Collecting all fines and dues and paying them over monthly to the Treasurer of the Woodbury Public Library, and having general care and supervision of all library property and generally rendering proper and efficient service.
