Solid waste disposal — See Ch. 125.
Pursuant to Chapter 169 of the Acts of 1965 of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and pursuant to this chapter, the Board of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance, management, operation, direction, control and protection of the solid waste enterprise fund and Nantucket's solid waste disposal facilities, including but not limited to all easements, rights-of-way, equipment, supplies, plans, engineering studies, records, landfill disposal areas, recycling areas, hazardous waste areas, composting facility, any landfill/landfill system assets or collection systems.
The Board of Public Works is authorized to enter into contracts, to expend such sums as are authorized and appropriated by the Town and to take such action as may be necessary or advisable to provide the people of Nantucket with the disposal of solid waste in accordance with the foregoing chapter and with the laws of the commonwealth.
