[HISTORY: Adopted by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Emerson 5-28-1974 by Ord. No. 628 (Ch. 75 of the 1966 Code); amended in its entirety 2-20-2001 by Ord. No. 1161. Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]

The Department of Parks, Playgrounds and Recreation shall be under the supervision of a Commission, consisting of seven persons, to be known as the regular "Recreation Commission." Said Commission shall consist of residents of the Borough of Emerson, all appointed by the Mayor in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:12-1 et seq. In addition, the Mayor and Council may, by ordinance or resolution as appropriate, provide for the appointment of two alternate members. Alternate members shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council, and shall be designated at the time of appointment as "Alternate No. 1" and "Alternate No. 2." Alternate members may participate in the discussions of the proceedings, but may not vote except in the absence or disqualification of a regular member of the Recreation Commission.
