This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Mount Joy Township Building Number Ordinance."
The building number or address of the residence or building shall be displayed on the building and mailbox. These numbers shall be of contrasting color to the mailbox and building and shall be no less than three (3) inches in height. On mailboxes, the number shall be displayed on both sides, and on buildings, the number shall be affixed to the building so as to be visible from the roadway. Where a home is located more than three hundred (300) feet from a roadway, the building need not be marked; however, if more than one (1) home is located on a common drive, all buildings must be marked so as to be visible from the lane or common drive.
Upon notification of noncompliance by a member of the Board of Supervisors and/or their authorized representatives, the notified party shall have fifteen (15) days to comply with this chapter. This notification may be in written or oral form.
Upon issuance of a building permit, the Township Building Permit Officer shall inform the person to whom the permit is issued of the requirements of this chapter.
Any person who shall violate the provisions of § 43-2 hereof shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of no less than five dollars ($5.) and costs of prosecution and in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one (1) day. Any person who shall violate the provisions of § 43-3 hereof shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100.) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.) and costs of prosecution and in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than thirty (30) days, provided that, each day's violation of either § 43-2 or § 43-3 of this chapter shall constitute a separate violation.
