The Mayor shall be elected at large at a municipal election for a term of four years beginning on the first Monday of January next following his/her election.[1]

A vacancy in the office of Mayor shall be filled in accordance with Section 507 of the Home Rule Charter and/or state law.
The Mayor shall be the chief executive officer of the borough and shall have those executive powers and duties described by the Home Rule Charter, this Administrative Code and general law, including but not limited to the following:
A. 
To enforce the laws and ordinances of the borough and the applicable provisions of the Home Rule Charter and general law.
B. 
To report annually, as mandated by the Charter, on financial and administrative activities, conditions and needs of the borough to the Council, at a public meeting so designated.
C. 
To make written recommendations for action to the Council.
D. 
To designate, on a temporary basis, an Acting Municipal Administrator as necessary.
E. 
To submit ordinances for the Council's consideration and approval.
F. 
To remove a Municipal Administrator or director at his/her discretion, after written notice of intention to do so to the Council. Any such removal shall become effective on the 30th day following the filing of such written notice.
G. 
To exercise any executive powers of the municipality required by the Home Rule Charter, this Administrative Code or general law.
