[HISTORY: Adopted by the City Council of the City of Pottsville 5-21-1966 by Ord. No. 72-66 as Art. 301 of the 1966 Code. Amendments noted where applicable.]
GENERAL REFERENCES
Peddling and soliciting — See Ch. 164.
No person, firm or corporation shall distribute or place in the buildings, dwellings, vestibules, yards, streets, sidewalks or other public places of the city, on the porches of any dwellings or on automobiles any papers, handbills, circulars, booklets, cards, samples or advertisements of any kind without first procuring a license from the Mayor. The license shall specify the person, firm or corporation for whom such distribution is to be made or performed. A separate license must be procured for each person, firm or corporation for whom distribution is to be made.
Such license shall be issued only at the discretion of the Mayor to such licensee who shall pay therefor to the Mayor, for the use of the city, the sum of sixty dollars ($60.) for the term of six (6) months.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be fined not more than six hundred dollars ($600.) and, in default of payment of fine and costs, be imprisoned not more than ninety (90) days.
