[Adopted 10-9-1967 as part of Res. No. 67-87]
[Amended 1-22-2004 by Ord. No. 2004-730]
Where sidewalks exist, property owners are required to have at least a two-foot width of sidewalk clear of snow and ice within 24 hours after the termination of the Township's declared "snow emergency."
When more than twelve (12) inches of snow has fallen, property owners may have up to forty-eight (48) hours to have at least a two-foot width of sidewalk cleared of snow and ice after the cessation of snowfall.
It is recommended that sidewalks not be shoveled until six (6) hours after the cessation of snowfall. During the snowfall and within six (6) hours after the cessation of snowfall, Township and state snow removal forces shall try to have roads plowed from curb to curb. In the event that a sidewalk has been cleared by a property owner and, more than six (6) hours after the cessation of snowfall, the Township or state forces plow or replow a road, causing snow to be plowed onto such cleared sidewalk, such property owner shall not be held liable for violation of § 137-6.
