As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BUILDING
Any structure used or intended to be used as a place of business or industry, but shall not include any public building or any structure built as a place of worship.
DWELLING
A structure used or intended to be used as a residence. It may be a single-family residence or a multifamily residence. Dwellings may be "single," "twin," "multiple," "townhouse," "mobile" or "row" configuration.
The Board shall maintain a numbering plan for the entire Township and shall assign numbers to all lots, dwellings and buildings in the Township according to said plan.
Any building or dwelling on a lot abutting any street or highway in the Township shall be numbered by the owner or occupant thereof in accordance with the provisions of this chapter within two weeks of the date of written notice by the Fire Marshal to any said owner or occupier to do so. Said written notice shall specify the number of the building or dwelling.
The number assigned to any dwelling, as provided pursuant to this chapter, shall be displayed as follows:
A. 
The number shall be attached to the dwelling, placed under the light, near the front door or other easily recognizable area.
B. 
Numbers (Arabic) shall be in a significantly contrasting color with the background upon which they are mounted.
C. 
Numbers shall be a minimum of three inches in height.
D. 
The number shall be clearly visible from the street. Numbers may not be hidden by obstructions, screen, storm doors or windows, shrubbery or trees.
E. 
Arabic numerals only shall be used. (Numbers that are spelled out are not acceptable.)
F. 
Number must be displayed horizontally.
G. 
Numbers assigned to new homes shall be mounted in a similar and consistent location.
H. 
Numbers shall be permanently attached to the dwelling.
I. 
Numbers (and their mounting medium) shall be made of durable materials.
J. 
Numbers shall be consistently maintained in complete compliance with this chapter.
The number assigned to any building, as provided pursuant to this chapter, shall be displayed as follows:
A. 
The number shall be placed near the front door.
B. 
Numbers shall be a minimum of three inches in height. They may be larger in order to comply with Subsection D below.
C. 
Numbers shall be in a significantly contrasting color with the background upon which they are mounted.
D. 
The number shall be clearly visible from the street or main entrance. Numbers may not be hidden by obstructions, windows, shrubbery or trees.
E. 
Arabic numerals only shall be used. (Numbers that are spelled out are not acceptable.)
F. 
Numbers must be displayed horizontally.
G. 
When more than one tenant occupies a building, all of the identifying numbers for that building shall be displayed so they can be seen from the street or main entrance. A sign with the number and corresponding company name may be used for this purpose.
H. 
Numbers must be permanently attached to the building.
I. 
Numbers and their mounting medium shall be made of durable materials.
J. 
Numbers shall be displayed near the front and rear entrances of every building which has more than one tenant.
K. 
Numbers shall be consistently maintained in complete compliance with this section.
When mailboxes are used they shall be installed as follows:
A. 
Numbers on mailboxes shall be in addition to numbers attached to dwellings and buildings.
B. 
The number must appear on each side of the mailbox.
C. 
The number shall be in a significantly contrasting color to the color of the box.
D. 
Numbers shall be a minimum of three inches in height.
E. 
If there is any question as to the location of the mailbox with respect to the correct street address, the name of the street shall appear on both sides of the mailbox.
Whenever any dwelling or building is set back more than 50 feet from the street line:
A. 
The number shall be placed near the driveway entrance or common entrance to the land of which the dwelling is erected.
B. 
The number may be placed on a pole, mailbox or post in a manner that can be seen from both directions of travel on the street.
On or after the passage and approval of this section of the chapter, it shall be the duty of each and every builder, owner, trustee, lessee, agent and occupant of each and every dwelling, building or other structure in Warwick Township to cause the same to be numbered in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction before a District Justice, be sentenced to pay a fine not to exceed more than $300 and/or imprisonment for a term not more than 30 days.
