GENERAL REFERENCES
Subdivision and land development — See Ch. 107.
An advisory council, to be known as the "Washington Township Environmental Advisory Council," is hereby created and shall continue to function until such time that this chapter is repealed.
The Environmental Advisory Council shall be composed of five residents of Washington Township.
Council members shall be appointed in accordance with the following procedures:
A. 
All Council members shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors of Washington Township.
B. 
The terms of office for Council members shall expire on the first Monday in January following the last year of their term of office.
C. 
Duly appointed Council members shall serve a term of three years, except that the initial appointment of the Council members shall be so staggered that the terms of approximately 1/3 of the membership shall expire each year.
D. 
Whenever possible, one member of the Council shall also be a member of the Washington Township Planning Commission.[1]

Council members shall receive no compensation for their services, but may be reimbursed for the expenses actually and necessarily incurred by them in the performance of their duties.
The Environmental Advisory Council shall be advisory to and shall coordinate its activities with the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Recreation Board and other such Township agencies.
The Board of Supervisors shall designate the Chairman of the Environmental Advisory Council.
The Environmental Advisory Council shall have the following powers:
A. 
To develop, organize, promote and operate a community recycling program.
B. 
Review all subdivision and land development plans situated within the Township that are submitted for approval to the governing body.[1]

C. 
To undertake such other environmental tasks as requested by the Board of Supervisors.
The Environmental Advisory Council shall keep records of its meetings and activities and shall make an annual report, which shall be printed in the annual municipal report or otherwise made known and available.
The Board of Supervisors may, from time to time, appropriate funds for the expenses incurred by the Environmental Advisory Council.
