Adoption of local laws — See Ch. 16.
Any law to the contrary notwithstanding, in
the case of the Town of New Castle, which is or may be required by
statute to publish in one or more newspapers any ordinance which such
town is authorized to adopt so as to make such ordinance effectual,
it shall be sufficient to publish in such newspaper or newspapers
a summary describing the subject of such ordinance and a notice stating
that the whole of such ordinance is on file with the Town Clerk of
such town, provided that a copy of such ordinance is kept on file
with the Town Clerk during the period of such publication. Such publication
shall be in lieu of publishing such ordinance in full in such newspaper
or newspapers.
This chapter shall be subject to referendum
on petition and shall take effect, subject to the provisions of § 24
of the Municipal Home Rule Law of the State of New York, when filed
in the office of the Secretary of State pursuant to § 27
of such law.
