Where curbs are required, concrete curbs shall
be provided. They shall conform to plans and specifications submitted
to and approved by town authority and to such modifications of roadway
cross sections as their construction necessitates.

Additional ditches, paved integral swales or
gutters and such paving of ditches and modification of roadway cross
section shall be provided as may be required by town authority to
provide adequate drainage or to prevent undue undercutting, scouring
or deterioration of the roadway pavement, roadway shoulders, embankments
or ditch slopes.

Catch basins and drains shall be installed as
required to secure proper drainage, to maintain a stable road base
condition and to prevent water from flooding or crossing the surface
of the traveled way. The inside dimension of the catch basins shall
be 30 inches by 48 inches with an eighteen-inch sump. A curb-type
frame and grate conforming to Campbell Foundry Pattern No. 2541 or
an approved equal shall be installed where curbs are constructed.
Where paved integral swales are constructed, Campbell Foundry Pattern
No. 2541 frame and grate or an approved equal, modified to a five-inch
curb height and a five-inch batter shall be installed.
Unless composed of such compacted material as
will firmly resist scouring from rain and displacement by automobiles
parking and occasionally driving thereon, the surface of all shoulders
shall be topsoiled and seeded or otherwise stabilized to the satisfaction
of the Engineer.

The subbase, base and top courses of integral
swales and gutters shall be of the same material and thickness as
specified for the paved traveled way.
