The Board of Trustees of the Village of Patchogue
finds that the conservation of recyclable materials is now a necessity
in order to conserve natural resources, decrease the amount of solid
waste, reduce the cost of solid waste disposal and extend the life
of landfills where such disposal is made. It is the purpose of this
legislation to institute a program of mandatory recycling for specific
recyclable materials in an attempt to provide the maximum environmental
and economic benefit with the minimum inconvenience to residents and
property owners. Such a program is further designed to protect the
health, safety and general welfare of the Village of Patchogue.
