The Town Board of the Town of Haverstraw hereby authorizes the Supervisor to enter into an agreement with the Town Attorney to defend the town against contract disputes and property damage suits which are within the deductible limits of the town's insurance policy.
The Town Attorney shall receive compensation in addition to his salary for the defense of such claims. Such compensation must be approved by the Town Board and shall be limited to $5,000 per calendar year.

Editor's Note: This local law provided that its purpose is to supersede the provisions of Town Law § 23(1) regarding residency requirements for the Town Attorney and/or Deputy Town Attorney.
The Town Attorney and any Deputy Town Attorneys for the Town of Haverstraw shall be electors to the County of Rockland, State of New York. They need not be electors of the Town of Haverstraw.
