This chapter shall be known and may be cited as "The Zoning Law of the Town of Kingston." The short title shall be "The Town of Kingston Zoning Ordinance."
This chapter is enacted pursuant to enabling provisions of Articles 2 and 3 of the Municipal Home Rule Law and Article 16 of the Town Law.
This chapter regulates the location, use and occupancy of buildings and the use of land for residential, commercial, recreation and other purposes; regulates the bulk and height of buildings and other structures; and regulates the area of yards and other spaces. This chapter divides the Town into districts within which regulations for the above are set forth; provides for administration and enforcement; and provides for variances from its requirements. The purposes of this chapter are:

To promote and protect the general health, welfare and safety of the residents of the Town of Kingston.
B. 
To promote orderly growth and development.
C. 
To protect natural and cultural resources.
D. 
To minimize losses from fire, flood, erosion and pollution.
E. 
To protect the community from unsightly, obtrusive or noisome land uses.
F. 
To protect property values.
This chapter applies to all structures and uses in the Town of Kingston. Any structure or use not specifically permitted in this chapter is prohibited.
