Pursuant to the provisions of § 8-31a of the General Statutes, the Town of Canton hereby adopts §§ 8-31a to 8-37a, inclusive, of the General Statutes and joins the Regional Planning Agency for the Capitol Region as defined by the Office of Policy and Management.

The Town of Canton shall have two representatives on the agency. Representatives shall be appointed as follows: the Planning Commission[1] of the Town of Canton shall appoint to the agency one elector of the Town of Canton, and the Board of Selectmen is hereby authorized to appoint to the agency one elector of the Town of Canton. The initial appointee by the Planning Commission shall serve for two years. The initial appointee by the Board of Selectmen shall serve for one year. Thereafter, all appointments shall be made for a period of four years unless the Planning Commission Bylaws require otherwise. Appointees may be reappointed for successive terms. The terms of Canton's representatives to the Capitol Region Planning Agency shall conform to the agency's fiscal year, July 1 through June 30.
