This work shall include furnishing and placing fertilizer and seed on all areas that have been topsoiled.
The material for this work shall conform to the requirements of State Form 810, Article M.13.03 and Article M.13.04.
Construction methods shall be those established as agronomically acceptable and feasible and which are approved by the Engineer.
A. 
Preparation of seedbed. The areas to be seeded shall be made friable and receptive for seeding by disking or by other approved methods to the satisfaction of the Engineer. In all cases the final prepared and seeded soil surface shall meet the lines and grades for such surface as shown in the plans or as directed by the Engineer. In no event will seeding be permitted on hard or crusted soil surface. All areas to be seeded shall be reasonably free from weeds.
B. 
Seeding season. The normal seasonal dates for seeding shall be as follows:
(1) 
Spring seeding, March 15 to June 15.
(2) 
Fall seeding, August 15 to October 15.
C. 
Seeding methods. Seed shall be uniformly applied by any agronomically acceptable and feasible method. Seed mixtures shall be applied at the rate of 100 pounds per acre. Fertilizer shall be uniformly placed at the rate of 1,500 pounds per acre.
D. 
Compaction. The contractor shall keep all heavy equipment off areas to be seeded and areas which have been seeded, to prevent excessive compaction.
E. 
Maintenance. The contractor shall keep all seeded areas free from annual weeds, growth foreign to the seed mixture and all debris, including stones. These areas shall be maintained until accepted by the Town.
F. 
Acceptance. An acceptable stand of grass shall consist of a uniform stand of at least 60% established permanent grass species, with a uniform count of at least 100 plants per square foot.
