The Annual Town Meeting for the transaction of business shall be held on the evening of the first Monday in May and may commence no earlier than 7:00 p.m.
The Annual Town Meeting may, by a two-thirds vote of the Select Board, be postponed to a later date; however, the transaction of the Town's business must be completed no later than June 30.
The Select Board shall give notice of all Town Meetings by posting attested copies of the Warrant at the Town Hall, Fifth Meeting House, Center Post Office and South Lancaster Post Office at least seven days before an Annual Town Meeting and 14 days before a Special Town Meeting and by publishing in a newspaper of local circulation a summary of each Warrant article.
The Annual Election of Town Officers shall be held on the second Monday in May. The polls may open no earlier than 7:00 a.m. and remain open until 8:00 p.m. and shall be so stated in the Warrant calling the Annual Town Election.

When a two-thirds vote of Town Meeting is required by statute, the Moderator shall make a public declaration of the vote and a count need not be taken. If a vote, so declared, is immediately questioned by seven or more voters, the Moderator shall verify the vote by calling for a standing vote.

Pursuant to the provisions of MGL c. 41, § 2, and MGL c. 39, § 14, there is established a three-year term for the Moderator beginning with the 2017 Annual Town Election.
