Township of Hazlet, NJ Article III Library Commission

[Adopted 3-16-1982 by Ord. No. 555-82 as Sec. 2-24 of the 1982 Revised General Ordinances (Ch. 51 of the 1993 Code)]

§ 11-13 Establishment; purpose.

A Hazlet Township Library Commission is hereby created to advise the Township Committee on giving direction to and planning for the orderly growth of the Hazlet Township Memorial Library and other library facilities in the Township supported under the authority of N.J.S.A. 40:54-35.

§ 11-14 Membership; terms.

A. The Commission shall consist of nine members.

B. One member shall be a member of the Township Committee, and the remaining eight members shall be citizens and residents.

C. Members shall be appointed by the Mayor.

D. The appointments shall be for terms as follows:[1]

(1) Two appointees for one year.

(2) Two appointees for two years.

(3) Two appointees for three years.

(4) The Township Committee member shall serve during his or her term as a Township Committeeman or Committeewoman.

E. The term for the two new members, added by Ord. No. 1656-20, shall end on December 31, 2022.

§ 11-15 Expiration of terms; vacancies.

A. Upon expiration of the term of office of any Commission member, other than the Committeeman or Committeewoman member, the Mayor shall appoint a successor for a three-year term.

B. Midterm vacancies occurring on the Commission shall be filled for the unexpired term only, in the same manner as the original appointment.
