In accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:14-70, the Board of Fire Commissioners is hereby established.
There is hereby established in the Township of Hazlet the following Fire Districts:
A. 
Fire District No. 1: the entire area bounded by Keyport Borough, Union Beach Borough, Keansburg Borough, Middletown Township, Holmdel Township and Aberdeen Township, also known as "Hazlet Township," as shown on the Tax Map of Hazlet Township. This is meant to describe a fire district which includes the entire area within the municipal boundary of Hazlet Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey.

The District shall consist of the following individual fire companies, all of which are located within Hazlet Township:
A. 
Hazlet Fire Company No. 1.
B. 
West Keansburg Fire Company No. 1.
C. 
Northern Centerville Fire Company No. 1.
D. 
Such other companies as may from time to time be recognized by the Township Committee.

A. 
Every person seeking to become a volunteer of the Fire District shall make written application to the company which he or she desires to join upon an application form furnished by that company.
B. 
Upon election to membership by the vote of the company according to company rules, he or she shall become a volunteer of the Fire District, after confirmation by the Board of Fire Commissioners of Fire District No. 1. His or her name shall be entered on a roll of firemen and firewomen kept by the Township Clerk.
C. 
He or she shall be given a badge of membership in the company, which badge shall be worn at all times when on duty, and which shall be delivered to the Chief or highest ranking officer of the fire company of which he or she is a volunteer at any time upon demand by the officer, or whenever the volunteer shall be under charges involving moral turpitude or neglect of duty or when for any cause he or she shall cease to be an active fireman or firewoman.
