A. 
The Tax Collector shall be chosen at the general election by popular ballot of the eligible voters of the Borough of Westville. His term of office shall be for four years beginning on January 1 following his election. Tenure may be obtained under the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-144.
B. 
The salary and compensation of the Tax Collector shall be as provided in the annual Salary Ordinance.
A. 
The Tax Collector shall collect and hold all moneys assessed or raised by taxes upon real and personal property within the Borough.
B. 
He shall keep such records as are required by law, including:
(1) 
Sums received each day for taxes and the names of persons on whose account the taxes are received.
(2) 
A record and account of the tax collections of the Borough.
C. 
Within 60 days of the end of the fiscal year or when so required by Council, he shall submit a full report and true statement of Borough finances from the beginning of his official year, as well as a list of the delinquent taxpayers for the previous year. Two copies of such report and list shall, at the required time, be filed with the Clerk. Deposits of Borough funds and additional reports to the governing body shall be made as required by law.
D. 
He shall disburse moneys as authorized by a warrant ordered by the Council, signed, numbered and attested as provided by law.
A. 
Appointment; term; compensation. The Mayor and Borough Council may appoint a Deputy Tax Collector, who shall serve for a term of one year from January 1 of each year. The Deputy Tax Collector shall receive such compensation as shall be provided in the annual Salary Ordinance.
B. 
Duties. The Deputy Tax Collector shall assist the Tax Collector in the performance of his duties in such manner and to such extent as shall be directed by the Tax Collector with the prior consent of the Council. During such periods as the Tax Collector is, with the consent of the Council, absent from his duties, the Deputy Tax Collector shall exercise all the powers and perform the duties of the Tax Collector.
