This chapter shall be known as "Establishing
the Office of Single Appointed Assessor."
Pursuant to Real Property Tax Law § 320
the Town of Cobleskill does hereby establish the office of single
appointed Assessor, to be appointed by the Town Board pursuant to
the provisions of § 310 of the Real Property Tax Law, with
a term of office to commence on January 1, 2004.
The terms of office of all elective Assessors,
whether the position is filled or vacant, shall be terminated on December
31, 2003.
The Town Board hereby determines and directs
that this chapter shall be subject to a mandatory referendum to be
held at the general election on November 4, 2003, in the manner prescribed
in § 24 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.[1]
