Editor's Note: This local law received the affirmative vote of a majority of the qualified electors voting thereon at the general election held on November 8, 1994.
A local law permitting games of chance is enacted by the Town Board of the Town of Grand Island as follows.
The purpose and effect of said local law is to add a new chapter to the Code of the Town of Grand Island, New York, entitled "Games of Chance," which will allow games of chance within the Town of Grand Island, New York, pursuant to Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York. The effect of the passage of such a local law would be to allow games of chance as defined in Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York to be conducted within the Town of Grand Island, subject to the limitations contained in Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York. This chapter is enacted pursuant to the authority of Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York and shall be known as the "Games of Chance Law of the Town of Grand Island."
The words and terms used in this chapter shall have the same meanings as are described in such words and terms in Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York, as the same shall have been or may from time to time be amended, unless otherwise provided herein or unless the context hereof requires a different meaning.
Games of chance may be conducted in the Town of Grand Island, New York, by authorized organizations after obtaining a license therefor in accordance with the provisions, requirements and limitations of Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law, the rules and regulations of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board and this chapter.
Games of chance may be conducted on Sunday between the hours of 12:00 noon and 12:00 midnight pursuant to this chapter.

The Supervisor of the Town of Grand Island shall exercise control over and supervision of all games of chance conducted under a duly authorized license. The Supervisor of the Town of Grand Island shall have all those powers and duties set forth in and for the enforcement of Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law.
