Safety belts must be worn by occupants in any vehicle which is being operated for the purposes of county business. This policy applies to both county-owned and privately-owned vehicles and to both the driver and occupants of the vehicle.
[Adopted 5-25-1988]
Elected officials and department heads will ensure that employees comply with this policy. Employees will report any county vehicle safety belt malfunction to the elected official or department head, who then will report the defect to the Safety Director, who shall have it repaired.
Extraordinary circumstances that cause an employee not to be able to wear a safety belt will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Such cases will be reviewed by the elected official or department head and Safety Director.
Any employee who fails to comply with this policy will be subject to disciplinary action.
