Pursuant to the provisions of the State Construction Code Act (Act 230 of the Public Acts of 1972, as amended[2]) the Michigan Building Code, incorporating the 2000 edition of the International Building Code, be and is hereby adopted as the Building Construction Code of the City of Rockwood for control of buildings and structures as herein provided; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of the said Michigan Building Code are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this chapter.

The City of Rockwood hereby assumes responsibility for the administration and enforcement of the Michigan Building Code, incorporating the 2000 edition of the International Building Code within its corporate limits designates its Building Official as the enforcing agency to discharge the responsibilities of the City of Rockwood under Act 230 of the Public Acts of 1972, as amended.
Whoever violates or fails to comply with the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed to be in violation of a municipal civil infraction subject to fines and other enforcement action set forth in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article II, of the Code of the City of Rockwood. A separate offense shall be deemed committed each day during or on which a violation or noncompliance occurs or continues, unless otherwise provided.
