Parks and recreation areas — See Ch. 323.

The Town of Canton hereby establishes a Park and Recreation Commission. The Commission shall consist of seven members to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen, one member to serve from the first day of January 1973 for a period of seven years, one member for six years, one member for five years, one member for four years, one member for three years, one member for two years, and one member for one year, or until their successors have been appointed and qualify. At the expiration of the term of each member the Board of Selectmen shall appoint a successor to serve for a term of four years. Any member may succeed himself.
Said Commission shall have the power and the duty to maintain and conduct all parks, playgrounds, baths, swimming pools, gymnasiums, recreation places, and public gardens owned by the Town, other than such facilities as are under the jurisdiction of the Board of Education.
