The purpose of the P-1 Active Public Park District is to designate publicly owned lands which are reserved for active recreation in public parks and to establish regulations for the use of land for public park purposes.
A. 
Permitted uses.
(1) 
Principal uses.
(a) 
Outdoor swimming pool and bathhouse.
(b) 
Community gardens.
(c) 
Hiking, walking, biking and exercise trails.
(d) 
Outdoor plant and wildlife sanctuary; outdoor nature study area.
(e) 
Fishing and boating.
(f) 
Grass or other natural playing surfaces.
(g) 
Playgrounds, creative play equipment.
(h) 
Outdoor courts, fields and other playing facilities for sports activities, including but not limited to football, baseball, softball, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, basketball, volleyball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, tennis, racquetball, handball, golf, ice and field hockey, skateboarding.
(i) 
Outdoor areas devoted to winter sports, such as ice skating, skiing, sledding and similar activities.
(j) 
Picnic facilities, pavilions and shelters.
(k) 
Forestry, subject to § 225-120K.
(2) 
Accessory uses:
(a) 
Rest rooms.
(b) 
Concession stands.
(c) 
Bleachers.
(d) 
Fences.
(e) 
Lighting.
(f) 
Park identification signs.
(g) 
Public parking areas.
(h) 
Borough park maintenance and trash collection facilities.

Equipment rental.
B. 
Conditional uses.
(1) 
Principal uses:
(a) 
Indoor swimming pool and bathhouse, subject to § 225-118HH.
(b) 
Indoor courts, fields and other playing facilities for sports activities, including but not limited to football, baseball, softball, rugby, soccer, basketball, volleyball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, tennis, racquetball, handball, golf, ice and field hockey, and skating, subject to § 225-118DD.
(c) 
Indoor facilities providing rooms for sports and health or fitness instruction, arts and crafts, recreation administration, day-care center, community group meetings, special events, social activities, and nonprofit fundraising activities, subject to § 225-118DD.
(2) 
Accessory uses:
(a) 
Batting cages, subject to § 225-118EE.
C. 
Uses by special exception.
(1) 
Principal uses.
(a) 
Temporary use or structure, other than a construction trailer, subject to § 225-118II.
(b) 
Expansion of a nonconforming use, subject to § 225-118 P and § 225-140D.
In the P-1 Active Public Park District, all uses shall be subject to the following regulations, except as they may be modified by the express standards and criteria for the specific conditional uses and uses by special exception contained in Article XVI.

Community park: five acres.

Neighborhood park: one acre.
(3) 
All other parks, parklets and recreation areas: none required.

Minimum lot width.
(1) 
Community park: 100 feet.
(2) 
Neighborhood park: 50 feet.

All other parks, parklets and recreation areas: 25 feet.

Maximum lot coverage: 25%.
