There is hereby established the position of bus driver for the senior citizen bus.
The bus driver shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and Council and be removed at any time for cause or no cause.
The bus driver shall be appointed to the position by nomination of the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council of the Borough of Palisades Park.

The annual salary for the bus driver shall be established and fixed by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Palisades Park through its Annual Salary Ordinance[1] but the initial salary range shall be from $26,000 to $36,000.

The bus driver shall be responsible for driving the senior citizen bus pursuant to the schedule as directed by the Mayor and Council.
The bus driver shall hold all the appropriate motor vehicle licenses enabling him/her to perform the function as bus driver. In the event of loss of the appropriate licenses for whatever reason, this position shall be automatically vacated and the person so appointed shall have no claim upon such office. No person may be appointed as a bus driver unless, at a minimum, the person:

Is a resident of this state during the term of appointment.
B. 
Is able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently.
C. 
Is of sound mind and in good health.
D. 
Is of good moral character.
E. 
Has not been convicted of any offense involving dishonesty or which would make the person unfit to perform the duties of his office.
The bus driver need not be a resident of the Borough of Palisades Park.
