For brevity, this Part 1 may be cited as the
"Sewer Use Ordinance."

The general purpose of this Part 1 is to provide for
efficient, economic, environmentally safe and lawful operation of
the City of Glen Cove publicly owned treatment works (POTW) and the
use of the city's sewer system by the residents of the City of Glen
Cove.
B.Â
This Part 1 seeks to:
(1)Â
Prevent the introduction of substances into the city's
sewer system or POTW that will:
(a)Â
Interfere with the POTW in any way.
(b)Â
Pass through the POTW to receiving waters and
contravene standards for those waters or cause a violation of the
POTW's SPDES permit.
(c)Â
Increase the cost or otherwise hamper the disposal
of POTW sludge and/or residuals.
(d)Â
Endanger any city personnel or members of the
public.
(e)Â
Cause air pollution or groundwater pollution,
either directly or indirectly.
(f)Â
Cause any public nuisance condition, either
directly or indirectly.
(2)Â
Prevent new sources of infiltration and inflow, and
eliminate existing sources of infiltration and inflow.
(3)Â
Assure that new sewers and connections are properly
constructed and maintained.
The provisions in the former Sewer Use Ordinance
are hereby repealed and said provisions are replaced. This Part 1
will become effective September 10, 1996.
