Pursuant to Village Law § 3-302, Subdivision 5(a), the terms of office for the Mayor and Trustees of the Village of Belle Terre shall be four years, except as provided in § 21-3 below.
Except for the offices of the Trustees whose terms expire in 2023, pursuant to Village Law § 3-302, Subdivision 7(a), Village general elections shall be conducted biennially in even-numbered years hereafter.
Pursuant to Village Law § 3-302, Subdivision 7(d), the initial terms of office for the offices of Trustees whose terms expire in 2023 shall be three years, but their successors shall thereafter be elected for terms of four years.
This law is subject to a permissive referendum and therefore shall not take effect until 30 days after its adoption; or until approved by a majority vote of the qualified electors of the Village voting on such proposition for its approval, if within 30 days after its adoption a petition is filed with the Village Clerk pursuant to Village Law § 9-902, Subdivision 1.
