All water closets and other plumbing fixtures connected with a sewer must be provided with a sufficient supply of water for flushing, to keep them in proper and clean condition.
There shall be a stop and waste cock or valve inside of front wall of building, so placed as to control all water-supply piping.
A. 
Every floor and every separate apartment must have a separate stop or valve to control water supply to fixtures on that floor.
B. 
Every water-supply riser must have a stop and waste cock or valve at its base to control same.
C. 
Every water closet shall have a stopcock; slip joint stops shall be permitted. All other slip-joint connections are prohibited.
A. 
Water pipes shall be of lead, brass, copper or galvanized iron, and shall be run of not less than the following sizes. Steel water pipe in ground not allowed; water service on new work must be copper.

Any bathroom above the first floor shall have separate three-quarter-inch risers and must have separate three-eighths-inch stop and waste valves at the foot of each riser.
A. 
Proper water service from the main water line in the street to the water meter must be of the so-called government type "K" three-quarter-inch heavy copper pipe or polyethylene (PE) plastic tubing ASTM D 2737, CSA-B137.1. All new water taps must be a minimum of one inch.

The following parameters apply when using the plastic pipe pursuant to § 69-78A:
(a) 
The approved plastic piping will be CTS SDR 9, 250 psi or ASTM D 2737, PE 4710.
(b) 
All plastic water service lines must end 10 feet from the building. From that point on it must be copper piping, as specified in § 69-78A, into the building.
(c) 
All joints on plastic pipe must be stainless steel sleeves with brass compression fittings.
(d) 
A Detecto wire must run the entire length of the plastic pipe.
(e) 
Any piping going into the ground with gravel or stone must be protected from damage by packing, at a minimum six inches of sand around the pipe.
B. 
All water services from the water main to the building shall be equipped with a service box cock and holder, to be installed on City property wherever possible, and all service lines must be laid on a ledge not less than six inches wide along the side of the sewer trench from the main line to the cellar.
No water pipe shall be placed where it will be liable to freeze. Where any plumbing fixtures are installed on the outside wall and supply pipes leading to the same are in the partition of the said wall, they must be properly protected from freezing by a packing of mineral wool or other approved insulation.
No plumbing fixture, device or construction shall be installed which will provide a cross-connection between a distribution system of water for drinking and domestic purposes and a drainage system, soil or waste pipe, so as to permit or make possible the backflow of sewage or waste.
