Indirect wastes shall be required for the discharge of all waste from:
A. 
Any refrigerator, icebox, steam table, bar or soda fountain, swimming pool, swimming pool scum gutter or any receptacle, appliance, device or apparatus which is used for the storage, preparation or processing of food or drink. In a three-compartment bar or soda fountain sink, the ice compartment shall be separately trapped and installed as an indirect waste line. The other two compartments may be connected with a continuous waste or individual traps and waste lines installed as indirect waste lines, in accordance with this article. All drip waste lines shall conform to § 131-84E.

B. 
Any appliance, device or apparatus using water as a cooling or heating medium.
C. 
Any sterilizer, water still or other similar appliance, device or apparatus.
D. 
Any water treatment device, including filters and softeners.
E. 
Any water-operated device.
F. 
Any drain, overflow or vent from a water supply system.
G. 
Any drain for condensate or defrosting evaporators in air-conditioning systems or having inlet in the air stream of ventilating or air-conditioning systems.
H. 
Any other device, when required by the Plumbing Inspector or Health Inspector.
A. 
Installation. Indirect waste pipes shall be installed in conformity with the provisions of these rules and regulations governing sanitary drainage piping.
B. 
Discharge of indirect wastes. Indirect waste pipes shall discharge into and above the flood level of a trapped open sink or approved receptacle, properly supplied with water, which shall be vented where required by these rules and regulations and which shall be located in an accessible, ventilated place, with an air gap between the outlet end of the waste pipe and the flood-level rim of the receiving sink or approved receptacle. The air gap in each instance shall be at least twice the diameter of the indirect waste pipe. If the indirect waste has sufficient year-round flow to maintain the trap seal, the sink or receptacle need not be supplied with water.

C. 
Discharge of clear water wastes. Water lifts, expansion tanks, cooling jackets, drip or overflow pans or similar devices which waste clear water only may discharge onto a roof, into a sump or so as to drain into a trapped fixture or receptacle. Drains from sprinkler systems shall be discharged onto a roof, into a sump or over an open trapped outlet of sufficient size to permit maximum flow from the drain under full system pressure without overflowing.
D. 
Location of trapped fixtures or receptacles receiving indirect wastes. Fixtures or receptacles receiving indirect wastes shall not be located within living quarters, and no indirect waste shall discharge into a lavatory, water closet, urinal, bathtub, shower, drinking fountain or other similar fixture in use for its customary purpose.
E. 
A drain for receiving condensate from air-conditioning systems may discharge into a laundry tray fixture or service sink fixture in accordance with this section. In one- and two-family residences, the condensate water may discharge onto a seeded area that is part of the property where the air-conditioning system is located.
A. 
Materials. Pipes, stacks, vents and connecting joints conducting or otherwise in contact with corrosive waste shall be constructed of materials approved by the Plumbing Inspector as capable of resisting the destructive action of such wastes.
B. 
Treatment.
(1) 
Corrosive, toxic or injurious wastes shall not be discharged into a street sewer unless first treated, diluted or neutralized in accordance with the regulations of the Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources to prevent injury to the public sewer system and treatment works.
(2) 
No waste containing radioactive substances shall be discharged into any portion of a plumbing system.
(3) 
Corrosive, toxic or injurious wastes or sanitary sewage not discharged into the public sewer system or as prescribed in Article XIV shall be conveyed in a manner approved by the Health Inspector and treated, diluted, neutralized and disposed of in accordance with the regulations of the Health Code of the Borough of Parkside and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources to ensure efficient and sanitary disposal and to prevent stream pollution, discharge to the ground surface of contaminating substances, creation of offensive odors, contamination of water supplies and the creation of health hazards and nuisances.
Indirect waste stacks receiving the discharge from fixtures on more than one floor, indirect wastes exceeding 100 feet in length and indirect wastes draining more than one trapped fixture shall be vented by being extended to the outer air above the roof as required by Article XI.
