This chapter shall be known as and may be referred to as the "Administrative Code" and is hereby referred to as "this code."
For the purpose of this chapter and in the interpretation and application of all other ordinances and resolutions heretofore or hereafter adopted by the Township:
A. 
The following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
CHARTER
Small Municipality Plan C of the Optional Municipal Charter Law, specifically N.J.S.A. 40:69A-115 through 40:69A-119; N.J.S.A. 40:69A-26 through 69A-30; N.J.S.A. 40:69A-120 through 69A-132; and N.J.S.A. 40:69A-150 through 69A-210, as amended and supplemented, and any and all general laws as therein defined which are or may be applicable to the Township.[1]
DEPARTMENT
An organization unit or group of organization units of the administrative branch of the Township government so designated by this code.
GENERAL LAW
Any law or provision of law, not inconsistent with the Charter heretofore or hereafter enacted, which is, by its terms, applicable or available to all municipalities, and the following additional laws, whether or not such additional laws are so applicable or available to all municipalities; legislation relating to taxation, local courts, education, health, public authorities serving more than one municipality and municipalities in unsound financial condition.
MAINTAIN
File, codify, index or preserve.
MONTH
A calendar month, unless otherwise specifically provided.
MUNICIPALITY
The Township of Greenwich, Gloucester County, New Jersey.
MUNICIPAL OFFICER
Any person elected to, appointed to or employed in any position defined by this code.
ORDINANCE
Any and all ordinances of the Township of Greenwich contained in the Ordinance Book, on record in the Township Clerk's office, in force and effect and all duly approved ordinances thereafter.
PERSON
Includes corporations, firms, organizations, companies, associations or any group acting as an individual or as a unit.
TOWNSHIP
The Township of Greenwich in the County of Greenwich, State of New Jersey.
TOWNSHIP OFFICER
Any person elected to, appointed to or employed in any position defined by this code.
YEAR
A calendar year, unless otherwise specifically provided.

B. 
The masculine gender shall include the feminine gender and firms, bodies, corporate associations and other artificial persons, where appropriate.
All ordinances and resolutions heretofore adopted by the Township and in force and effect on December 31, 1981, shall remain in full force and effect to the extent that they are not inconsistent with the Charter or with this code.
