This article shall be known and may be cited as the "Undrained Excavations
Ordinance."
No person shall maintain or own a cellar or other excavation in the
Town of Gates in which water is allowed to stand for a period of 30 days or
more without having the same properly drained or filled or made free of such
water.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this article shall be
guilty of a violation and punishable by a fine of not to exceed $250 or imprisonment
not to exceed 15 days, or both, to be recovered by the town in any court of
competent jurisdiction.
