All accessory structures in any residential zone shall be subject to the same locational requirements affecting the principal structure on a lot; except, however, that such accessory structure may be placed not less than five feet from any rear lot line or the rear yard portion of any side lot line; provided, however, that no such structure shall be built closer to any other lot line than the minimum front yard or side yard setback required on the lot upon which the structure is proposed or upon the contiguous lot closest to the location of such accessory structure, nor shall any structure be placed closer than the established setback from any street right-of-way, except as otherwise specifically provided herein. Nothing in this section or this chapter shall permit the occupancy of a basement without a complete residential structure thereon.
A. 
Chicken coops and runs.
(1) 
Minimum coop size area is to be four square feet per hen.
(2) 
Minimum run size area is to be 10 square feet per hen.
(3) 
Coops are to be enclosed and lockable.
(4) 
Runs must be fenced and covered.
(5) 
Coops and runs must be in the rear yard, no closer than 10 feet to property lines, and no closer than 40 feet to residential structures on adjoining properties.
B. 
Shipping containers prohibited. To protect public health and safety, and the aesthetic quality of the Town, replacement and use of any shipping container as an accessory building, storage building, or living unit on residentially zoned and other zoned lands where residential uses are established is hereby prohibited, except licensed and bonded contractors may use shipping containers for temporary storage of equipment and materials during construction as permitted by the Town Building Inspector.
All accessory structures in nonresidential districts shall be subject to the same locational requirements as are required for all principal structures within such districts.
