The Fire Department shall hold an annual meeting on the first Monday in December in each year. At such meeting, the members of the Fire Department shall elect, in accord with the provisions herein, a Chief, a First Assistant Chief, Second Assistant Chief, Captains, Lieutenants, Wardens and such further officers as may be provided for in the bylaws of the Fire Department. Such election shall be reported to the Board of Trustees at its first regular meeting following the election and shall not be effective until confirmed by it. Nominations for candidates for the offices vacant and to be filled at the annual meeting shall be submitted to the membership at the meeting of the membership on the first Monday in November in each year. Upon approval by the Board of Trustees, the term of office for each of the officers elected shall begin on the 1st day of January following the election, and the term of each officer shall be in accord with §§ 10-1010, 10-1012 and 10-1014 of the Village Law.
This Article is adopted for the purpose of changing the schedule of elections of officers of the Fire Department as set forth in §§ 10-1010, 10-1012 and 10-1014 of the Village Law and for that purpose only. This Article supersedes the aforementioned sections as said sections apply to the election dates for officers, chiefs, assistant chiefs, wardens, secretaries and treasurers and any other officers provided for in the bylaws of the Fire Department. Accordingly, all other terms and provisions of §§ 10-1010, 10-1012, and 10-1014 of the Village Law are in full force and effect and binding upon the Fire Department.[1]

Pursuant to the authority vested in the Village Board by § 4-412 of the Village Law; and in order to provide for the protection of village property, the safety, health, comfort and general welfare of its inhabitants and protection of their property, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Honeoye Falls hereby appoints itself to act as a Board of Fire Commissioners for the Village of Honeoye Falls Fire Department, and it shall have the authority to exercise any right or discharge any obligation conferred by law upon a Board of Fire Commissioners.
