The use of steel jaw leghold traps for the capture of furbearing mammals shall be prohibited within the Town of Wakefield, notwithstanding any provisos, exceptions or provisions for special permit to use such traps as may be contained in MGL c. 131, § 80A.

No person shall hunt or discharge any firearms within the limits of the Town unless permission is granted by the Chief of Police or his or her designee. This section shall not apply to the lawful defense of life or property, nor to any law enforcement officer acting in the discharge of his or her duties, nor to the use of firearms at any military exercises or on any established rifle range.
